Master Stylist
Diane loves both her hometown of Stonington and traveling the world. These passions meet in her approach to hair styling, as she creates the latest on-trend look, or an easy-care cut that goes from the gym to the office. Her secret? She’s a good listener. “I hear my clients’ needs, and I feel comfortable making suggestions,” Diane says. “My clients trust me, and that’s a good feeling.”
Diane stays current with continual education and training at many of today's top beauty academies in the U.S. and abroad. She enjoys traveling to New York and Miami as much as to London and Australia, incorporating what she’s learned into her offerings at the salon. Plus, she “loves exploring and playing with new products. It’s fun introducing them to my clients.”
Diane’s creative explorations started at an early age. In her teens, she enjoyed drawing, painting, and making her own clothes. She also cut her friends’ hair – “the ones who would let me!” Her relationships with her clients are as long-lived as those with her friends. “I have a client in her 90’s who has come to me since I was 19,” she says. “It’s also energizing to have new clients – men as well as women – move into the area and find us.”

“A ray of sunshine” is a phrase once used by one of Allison’s clients, and anybody who has had the opportunity to sit in her chair would agree. Although Allison’s calm and gentle approach will immediately put you at ease, it is her meticulous attention to detail and incredible experiences that allow you to leave with a great head of hair.
Allison has gained all of this wisdom from a diverse history in this industry. Ali started working at Rob Rivers right out of cosmetology school, knowing a good thing when she saw it. Ali took a brief hiatus when she was chosen for an exclusive traveling team of hair dressers to represent the International Beauty Shows organization. This provided the opportunity to receive training from world renowned hairdressers in extensions, wigs, technical cutting, and creative color illusion. From there she worked for Goldwell, performing at hair shows and providing education to salons around the country in color. Coming back to Rob Rivers, she brings her creative spirit and whimsical personality that any client is sure to love.

Lisa is one of the most experienced stylists in the salon, bringing an impressive 36 years of experience in the industry. She lives true to the title of Master Stylist; taking in depth cutting classes from Vidal Sassoon in NYC, and getting advanced certifications for artificial hair and hair color. She has traveled to the Dominican Republic and London (twice!) for hair conventions.
Lisa takes pride in her ability to enhance the natural texture of your hair. Her attraction to timeless styles and her ability to utilize the natural fall of a client’s hair, creates a style that is easy to maintain between appointments. Lisa believes that finding fresh inspiration is key to staying relevant in this industry. Because of this, when she is not in the salon, you will find her taking fine art classes and keeping up with style trends on Pinterest.

For over 17 years as a stylist, Samantha has been celebrating her love for art, fashion, and people. Whether it’s engaging with clients in a thorough consultation, stepping in to givedirection or inspiring a new look, her goal is to have each client heard in the creative process. Her philosophy is that everyone can have healthy, beautiful hair that accentuates our unique personalities, and compliments our inherent natural beauty. She has studied classic foundations at the world renowned Vidal Sassoon Academy in NYC, modern balayage techniques at the L’Oreal Academy in NYC, and advanced color techniques with renowned celebrity stylist Beth Minardi in NYC.
Samantha has traveled to Berlin Germany, Miami, Las Vegas, and Barcelona Spain to attend Goldwell’s Global Trend Zoom, an international conference featuring cutting edge hair artistry. Her work has been featured in Martha Stewart’s Wedding magazine, and she had the opportunity to provide hair and makeup on the set of a “Real Simple” Magazine shoot. Samantha specializes in all forms of hair painting from balayage, to foliage, personalized hair color, cutting, and updos. She is committed to continuing her education, and connecting with people. Her favorite part of the job is the opportunity to serve clients, lift their spirits, and have them leave the salon feeling beautiful inside, and out.

Edward began his creative career as a graphic artist, soon finding himself bored and wanting more out of his career. Loving the connections he could forge with clients and having an eye for color are what made him take the plunge into the hairdressing world. Edward got his start at the prestigious Giacomo Salon in Boston, spending 16 years learning, growing, and establishing himself as a prominent figure in this industry. Moving south to Connecticut he spent 10 years at the Red Door Salon, and finally finding a home at Rob Rivers.
Edward has traveled internationally to attend hair conventions, most recently to Goldwells’ own Color Zoom in Germany. He has taken courses in advanced cutting techniques, balayage, blonding, and styling. He enjoys the challenge of mixing classic hairdressing techniques with modern style. Whether it be a beautiful natural balayage or a precision cut, Edward can meet all of your hair needs.

Britany graduated from Paul Mitchell The School Rhode Island in 2010. Becoming a stylist had always been the path that Britany dreamed of; the ability to be creative yet provide a living at the same time. A highlight for Britany is meeting new people and in return she can help them feel wonderful. Britany has taken advanced Paul Mitchell color/cutting classes , Keratin complex certification (all four systems) , Hair Dreams Tape In Hair Extensions, advanced razor cutting classes from Red Door Spa’s national educators, as well as advanced balayage classes. Britany is also well versed in bridal and formal styling classes. She prides herself in looking for new trends and techniques to try from stylists across the world.
Britany is always striving to be a well rounded stylist, but if she had to pick her favorite thing it would be cutting. She admires the sleek elegance of a classic bob but also enjoys her straight razor to create a beautiful fun flirty haircut. Another specialty of Britany's is foiling; not sticking to the typical foil pattern and really paying attention to where the hair needs to be foiled based on the client and hair type. Britany likes look at each of her clients with fresh eyes every single time, even if she has been doing your hair for the last 10 years! She thrives off of her three children and husband who push her to keep working hard and to do better every single day.

Emily became a cosmetologist because of her love for the art of creating and bringing out the beauty and confidence in her clients that they may have never known they had! She enjoys cultivating a comfortable, calm, and fun environment for her guests.
She has worked 10 NYFW shows as a makeup artist, and was the Lead Makeup Artist and Hairstylist for The Travel Channel's show The Holzer Files.
Emily is a multifaceted artist who not only performs makeup applications, but also color and hair-cutting services, and an array of spa services such as lash lifts and tints, brow laminating, and waxing.

Eric has been in the hair industry for over 23 years, including 21 years at Hair Unique in Mystic, CT. Eric has studied with some of the most recognized hair brands in the industry, such as Hot Head extensions, Deva Curl, Goldwell and Paul Mitchell.
His vast knowledge and extensive training includes working with straight and curly textures, long and short haircuts, both sew-in and tape-in extensions, as well as working with wigs. In an ever evolving industry, Eric is committed to staying current with new trends and techniques. Eric would love to share his years of experience with you, whether a custom makeover or a modern update to your current look!

Sandra has been in the hair industry for 15 years, years spent at Medusa Hair Salon right in Norwich, CT. Sandra has studied some of the most recognized hair trends in the industry such as Goldwell and Redken. She excels in precision cutting and highlighting.
Sandra is passionate about making people feel beautiful and confident and is innovative when it comes to recommend styles to match her client's personality for a complimentary look.

Licensed Esthetician Danielle Welch embraces a holistic and realistic approach to looking your best, recommending regular exercise, a healthy diet, plenty of water, and adequate sleep. All this and a dedicated skin care regimen give skin a natural, hydrated glow. “There’s a connection between our lifestyle and how we treat our bodies – and the way we feel and look,” says Danielle.
The best part about attention to lifestyle is it never stops working – it’s timeless. And it’s never too late to start taking care of yourself and your skin, no matter what your age. Danielle (and The Salon and Spa) commends two skin care lines: Solavedi, plant-based products made in Connecticut in small batches, and Skin Ceuticals, medical grade products that boast data-driven results. Both lines offer age-delay options. “There’s no reason our skin can’t be healthy at every age,” she says. In addition to facial treatments, Danielle specializes in waxing, nail care, lash lifts, and lash and brow tinting.
Danielle’s focus on beauty and skin care started in 1990 as a co-owner of salons in Tampa, Florida and locally in New London and Groton. She joined the team at Rob Rivers more than 20 years ago, lives in Mystic, and enjoys a close connection with her clients and the community. “Mystic is such a special town – we love our location,” she says. “We’re here for our clients today, and we’ll be here for them tomorrow.”

Nel became a licensed esthetician out of her genuine interest in skincare and a desire to help others feel confident and look their best. She is dedicated to personalized, results-driven skincare, with the goal of tailoring each service to meet her clients' individual needs. Whether that includes deep hydration through a custom facial, advanced treatments such as HydraFacials and chemical peels, or enhancing natural features with lash lifts, tints, brow laminations, and waxing services, she believes skincare is never one-size-fits-all. Nel strives to create a relaxing, results-focused experience while helping clients achieve healthy, glowing skin.

Rob Rivers fell in love with the art of hairdressing over 36 years ago. Blessed with a creative mind and a strong passion for the industry, he opened Rob Rivers The Salon & Spa in 1989.
Rob’s resume is extraordinary. Along with traveling internationally to attend beauty conventions, he has taken the opportunity to participate in many classes with companies such as Goldwell, American Crew, Vidal Sassoon, and Aveda. He was chosen by the International Beauty Shows organization to represent the trends and techniques within the industry, sharing the stage with acclaimed artists from around the world. Rob has been able to showcase his way of creating a timeless, yet modern, style as a guest speaker at various salons and schools throughout New England.
Robs' work has been featured in magazines including Women's World, Women's Journal, Passion, Hairstyles, American Salon, Studio (USA-Italy), Salon News and in several local newspapers with feature articles. He has had the opportunity to do hair on set for the films Mystic Pizza and Meet Joe Black. Rob has shared his passion with all of the clients that have graced his chair over the years, creating a lasting legacy in the Mystic Community.
